How fit do I need to be?

Not at all, this is an experience weekend where you’ll be learning new skills at a safe pace.

Is there an upper or lower age limit?

Yes there is a lower age limit of 18. At Break-Point we believe that age is just a number. We’ve had attendees on Break-Point courses aged between 18 and 60+.

What do I bring?

The weather and temperature are unpredictable so please be prepared for all eventualities. 

This is a standard course kit list for our weekend events:

  • Walking Boots / Trainers with ankle support
  • Dark Clothing (outdoor adventure kit)
    • Hiking Trousers/Leggings
    • 2 Light Weight T-Shirts
    • Fleece
    • Waterproof Jacket
    • 2 Pairs of Socks
    • Women – Sports Bra
    • Warm Beanie Style Hat
    • Cap (for summer events)
  • Water Bottle 1L
  • Head Torch
  • Day Sack (Small Rucksack)
  • Sleeping Bag (Suitable for the time of year of the event)
  • Wash Kit (Very Basic)
  • Wet Wipes
  • Small Towel
  • Sun Screen & Inspect Repellent (weather dependent)
  • Anything else you deem as essential
  • Any Medication that you will need
How do I get to the venue?

Drive to Post TN22 3HW. Ample free parking on site. The closest train station is East Grinstead with connections to London Victoria. East Grinstead Station is approximately 10 miles away from the venue. Taxis are available from East Grinstead.

Do I need to bring a sleeping bag?

Yes, due to hygiene reasons please bring your own sleeping bag. We recommend a winter/spring one.

Do I need to bring food and drink?

BREAK-POINT will supply main meals, refreshments and snacks during the event, please bring any additional food/drink if you think you’ll need it.

What time does the event start/finish?

9am on Saturday 31st March, please arrive at 0800 to be ready to start for 0900. The event will come to an end at noon the following day, lunch will be served between 1230 -1300

Can I bring family and/or friends to watch?

Unfortunately not. We operate on private land on a large military training area.

Where can I stay the night before?

East Grinstead has a range of hotels to suit budget available via the usual hotel booking sites.

Do you have medical facilities and/or a doctor on site?

We have qualified first aiders on site at all times. Our protocols for putting on events such Base Camp UK includes detailed planning around emergency response and medical care

I have asthma- can I still do the course safely?

We suggest you seek medical advice prior to joining the Base Camp course in terms of any medical condition that should be declared on your medical declaration form

Do you cater for special dietary requirements, like veganism or allergies?

Yes – allergies and special dietary requirements can be accommodated and should be stated on your medical declaration form

Am I allowed to film the experience/upload footage to the internet (eg Facebook/YouTube)?

Break-Point cannot accept responsibility for lost or broken electronic equipment – we actively encourage participants to share their experiences at Base Camp on social media
